Are microplastics in the body harmful?

Leafy
Research is still moving.

The short answer
Researchers have detected microplastics in human samples, and health bodies are reviewing possible risks. The long-term effects are still not fully settled.
17:00So: concern, yes. Wild certainty, no.
17:03A cautious answer is stronger than a scary one.
Why it is hard to answer
Microplastics vary by size, shape, material and chemical mix. Measuring them consistently is difficult, and exposure is not the same as proven harm.
17:12Tiny particles, big caveats. Science does not move faster because a headline is impatient.
17:20What to do now
It is reasonable to reduce unnecessary plastic exposure and support better research, while avoiding dramatic claims that outrun the evidence.
17:27That is our rule here too: useful, plain, proved.
